Dr Taryn is a South African veterinarian who graduated from Onderstepoort University in 2006 — the country’s only veterinary medicine faculty. She began her career in a small animal clinic in Johannesburg before relocating to the Netherlands in 2008, where she shadowed board-certified specialists and completed advanced internal medicine training for general practitioners at the University of Utrecht.
After seven years in Europe, Taryn returned to South Africa to work in a 24-hour companion animal clinic alongside a European board-certified Internal Medicine specialist. During this time, she also began developing her passion for veterinary dermatology, facilitating a small dermatology clinic.
In 2019, she moved to Australia and completed a Small Animal Medicine Internship at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (Tuggerah) and Sydney Veterinary Emergency and Specialists. Taryn joined Dr Dani and the VDC team in December 2021.
She now calls Australia home and is pursuing her goal of completing a residency in Veterinary Dermatology.
