Does your dog need surgery for bladder stones? We’re enrolling dogs in a trial for a new modified minimally invasive technique.
MediPaws is currently enrolling 10-15 small to medium dogs in a clinical study of a new modified, minimally invasive technique for removing bladder stones.
Why participate?
Dogs enrolled in this study may benefit from:
- A significantly smaller incision in the bladder wall, requiring fewer sutures and reducing the risk of suture-related complications
- Less post-operative discomfort than expected with traditional methods
- Shorter hospital stays, with most dogs expected to go home the same or next day
- Stone analysis included, to guide long-term prevention and reduce the chance of recurrence
- Discounted procedure
Eligibility
Dogs may be eligible if they have bladder stones and are:
- Male and under 15kg, or
- Female and under 10kg
Dogs of any age may be considered.
Please note: This procedure is open to referred patients only. Every patient will be assessed by Dr Dennis Woerde before enrolment. Not every dog will be suitable, and in some cases, alternative procedures should be performed. We’ll talk it through with you and your vet before anything is booked.
Participation requirements
Participation is voluntary. Full details are provided before you decide, and you may withdraw your dog from the study at any time and for any reason. Your dog’s health, comfort, and wellbeing will always remain our top priority.
Costs
As a part of this research, we will be offering the procedure at a discounted price.
