Dr Lara Boland is fascinated by all things feline and has spent most of her more than 20 year veterinary career working specifically with cats. Uniquely, Lara is both an Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Fellow in Feline Medicine and a European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist in Small Animal Medicine.

After graduating from the University of Sydney, Lara worked in general small animal, emergency and feline-only general practice in Australia. She moved to the UK in 2008 to pursue an International Cat Care sponsored double residency in feline medicine and small animal medicine at the University of Bristol, The Feline Centre at Langford Vets. She then worked as a specialist and a senior lecturer at the Valentine Charlton Cat Centre at the University of Sydney from 2013-2023. Following this, she worked at a private referral hospital in Sydney before joining Medipaws.

Lara enjoys all aspects of feline medicine and continues to contribute to the veterinary profession’s understanding of cat health through clinical research, textbook chapters, conference presentations and many years spent supporting the clinical learning of veterinary students and specialists in training.

Lara understands how special cats are as pets and their unique health issues and needs.
